The Spartans began the game against the Tigers on Friday night in St. Cloud by seeing Delano jump out to an early 7-0 lead in the opening quarter.
ROCORI responded quickly prior to halftime at SCSU, rallying two touchdowns before the break to hold a 14-7 advantage through the first half.
In the second half, the Spartans absolutely stepped on the gas and didn’t look back for the remainder of the game.
ROCORI went on to outscore Delano 21-0 in the final two quarters, while forcing the Tigers into three turnovers to grab the win in the state quarterfinals.
Leading the way for the Spartans offense was quarterback Jack Steil, who finished 12-of-16 for 146 yards and one touchdown through the air while also running for 74 yards along with three touchdowns on the ground.
"We believe that we're a stronger football team as the game goes on," Spartans head coach James Herberg told the St. Cloud Times after the game. "We think our kids can really pick up some momentum when we have all three phases working together. Everyone on the team is truly buying in and I can't wait to get indoors."
